We train Practitioners in the Immanuel Approach.
At the Immanuel Institute, we know the power of experiencing "God with us." That's why we're committed to providing highly interactive, best-in-class training: so that you can build a two-way connection with the living presence of Jesus.
View CoursesHear from Jesus. Heal with Jesus.
Whether your goal is to hear more clearly from God or to experience greater levels of emotional healing, the Immanuel Approach can help.
Developed by board-certified psychiatrist Dr. Karl Lehman and neurotheologian Dr. Jim Wilder, the Immanuel Approach is a biblically-based, neuroscience-driven model for trauma healing and relational connection.
Immanuel Approach sessions begin with interactive gratitude in a positive memory, which establishes a safe and trauma-informed setting for connection. Participants can experience the presence of Jesus, explore spiritual questions, and begin to heal from attachment wounds or unresolved memories.
Discover the Immanuel Approach
"The Immanuel Approach is a heart healing model that applies several simple-but-powerful biblical truths and brain-science principles to help the recipient establish an interactive, two-way, back-and-forth connection with Jesus. Once this interactive, two-way, back-and-forth connection has been established, we can pursue any one of a variety of options with respect to adventures that God and the recipient can engage in together."
Dr. Karl Lehman, MD, Founder of The Immanuel Approach
Connect others with Jesus.
At the Immanuel Institute, we’re training trauma-informed therapists, counselors, pastors, lay leaders, and healers in the Immanuel Approach because it powerfully equips all kinds of people to interact directly with Jesus.
Our Level I training, The Immanuel Approach for Life, is the first phase of formation in the Immanuel Approach. In this 7-week course, students are introduced to the model's core principles, invited into a healing community, and trained to facilitate an initial connection with Jesus for self and others.
Upon successful completion of Level I, students are invited to apply to the Immanuel Institute's comprehensive cohort program: The Immanuel Approach for Emotional Healing. This set of courses offers deep trauma-informed instruction and scaffolded practicum experiences to develop the skills and capacity to apply the Immanuel Approach to pain and trauma. Those who complete Level II and all requirements of certification are eligible to become Certified Practitioners of the Immanuel Approach.
BELONG TO A COMMUNITY
When you study at the Immanuel Institute, you become an integral part of a healing community. You forge friendships, receive meaningful mentorship, and join a supportive cohort that's with you as you grow.
DEVELOP SKILLS IN PRACTICUM
Anything worth learning takes practice, so we've built Practicum experiences right into our learning model. At the Immanuel Institute, you'll practice with your cohort, in your own communities and, as your skills advance, with outside guests.
PRIORITIZE YOUR HEALING
We know from experience that transformation happens from the inside out. That's why we're committed to helping students experience Jesus first for themselves. Then, and only then, are they prepared to help others connect with him.
